Zakat on cryptocurrencies
The International Islamic Fiqh Academy has not settled the status of cryptocurrencies (resolution No. 237, 2019). As a precaution, the calculator counts them at their market value on the anniversary date, as zakat organizations that accept them do; they are included in the wealth subject to the threshold and to the 2.5% rate.
Staking, airdrops, yields
Tokens received as staking rewards or through airdrops are added to wealth once received, like any available money. Whether staking itself is permissible is a separate question, covered in the site's Crypto section.
Which price to use?
The price on the anniversary date, a fixed date you keep from one year to the next; the purchase price does not count.
