What the calculator uses
- Threshold: 85 g of pure gold or 595 g of pure silver (AAOIFI, Shariah Standard No. 35); gold and silver prices collected every week, editable.
- Rate: 2.5% for a lunar year, 2.577% for a solar year.
- Debts: only the installments due within the year are deducted, excluding interest; the other views are shown in the range.
- Worn jewelry: excluded for the majority of schools, included for the Hanafis; setting of your choice.
- Stocks: market value if you buy to resell; otherwise your share of the company's zakatable assets, read from its annual report.
- Interest received: given away in full, outside zakat.
