Is Quant (QNT) halal?
No condition fails, but 2 points remain to be verified or fall under a tolerated case.
Verdict calculated by Halal Bourse's published rules from an investigation of primary sources (project documentation, registers, decisions), conducted on 10/07/2026 and not reviewed by a human.
The asset
ERC-20 token of the Quant / Overledger interoperability network (gateway between blockchains and banking systems) Issuer: Quant Network Ltd (London, company No. 09798383, incorporated in 2015), led by Gilbert Verdian; initial token sale in 2018.
Ethereum token deployed in April 2018. According to Quant, it is used to pay for access to its services (Overledger license, as an alternative to fiat currency) and, since July 2025, to stake network nodes on Quant Fusion. Declared supply: 14,612,493 QNT after a burn in September 2018; the contract keeps a mint function under the key of one address.
Why this verdict
- Permissible purpose : met. QNT has a use described by the issuer: payment for access to Quant services (as an alternative to fiat currency, according to the 2024 terms) and staking of nodes on the Quant Fusion network (July 2025). The terms are more than 18 months old (see gaps).
- « “QNT” means those utility tokens which Customers may use for Quant products and / or services including staking » Quant (terms of service, read through the site's WordPress API) (2024-08-16)
- « The network is secured by QNT, which serves as both the native token and the staking mechanism for trusted nodes. » Quant (post on Quant Fusion, read through the site's WordPress API) (2025-07-03)
- No riba : met. No page read promises a yield for simply holding QNT. A reward is granted only to node operators who stake QNT, depending on network activity (source and rate not documented); staking is treated separately.
- « Node operators stake QNT to participate in transaction processing and earn rewards based on network activity. » Quant (post on Quant Fusion, read through the site's WordPress API) (2025-07-03)
- « The Services may include QNT staking. » Quant (terms of service, read through the site's WordPress API) (2024-08-16)
- No gambling : met. The spot purchase is of an ERC-20 token recorded on Ethereum, transferable between addresses and assigned to described uses; it is not a contract on a price difference.
- « "symbol":"QNT","total_supply":"45467000000000000000000000","type":"ERC-20" » Blockscout (jeton) (2026-10-07)
- No excessive gharar : to be verified or tolerated case. The declared supply (14,612,493 QNT after the burn of September 14, 2018) is published, but the contract displays a fixed supply of 45,467,000 QNT and its mint function remains under the key of an address with no code, which Blockscout alone labels as the former Quant deployer; no text read says this key is destroyed, and the company's allocation and its release schedule were not read.
- « This is what is immutable in the smart contract showing the maximum of what could have been minted during the TGE. » Quant (compte X officiel @quantnetwork) (2018-09-24)
- « Quant Token Burn Completed 14th September 2018. [Total Supply: 24,158,259.031815372 QNT] [Public/Circulation: 9,964,259.03181537 QNT] » Etherscan (token page) (2026-10-07)
- Real ownership : met. QNT is a standard Ethereum token (address 0x4a22…4675, confirmed by CoinGecko and Etherscan): it can be held in a personal wallet and added to MetaMask; no condition of deposit with an intermediary in the pages read (exchange where it can be bought not studied).
- « Add Token to MetaMask (Web3) » Etherscan (token page) (2026-10-07)
- « "ethereum":"0x4a220e6096b25eadb88358cb44068a3248254675" » CoinGecko (API) (2026-10-06)
- No fraud or manipulation : to be verified or tolerated case. No sanction or deception toward buyers was found; only one signal of rule A.8 is established, the mint right (scan and code agree), with no honeypot, tax, freeze, upgradeable code or high concentration outside exchanges (7.8%): a single signal gives “to be verified”.
- « function mint(address _address, uint256 _value) public onlyCrowdsale { » Blockscout (verified code of the QNT token) (2026-10-07)
- « function enableSale() onlyOwner public { » Blockscout (verified code of the Crowdsale contract) (2026-10-07)
Contract security scan
GoPlus security scan of the QNT contract on Ethereum: 183,662 holders; top ten wallets excluding exchanges and contracts 7.8%; code published. Signals found: Mint right: the supply can be increased by the contract owner (is_mintable). Reading: one A.8 signal (mint right, exercised by a key and not by a regulated issuer), no other; a single signal = c6 to be verified. GoPlus's “owner” is the Crowdsale contract 0x398e41ac3d5972b4bac2320cd130c7a25ca446f7.

What could not be verified
- HTML pages of quant.network return 403 and the Wayback Machine is down: texts read through the site's public WordPress API (content.rendered decoded); the home page, Overledger, Quant Fusion, QuantNet, FAQ and “About” pages expose only their description. docs.quant.network unreachable; the 2018 white paper and the burn announcement (Medium) not read.
- I-SCAN (IOSCO), search for “quant”: access denied (403), not verified.
- Texts more than 18 months old: terms of service (2024-08), X account (2018-09), Rosalind press release (2023-06), Sharlife review (2022-Q1). Nothing more recent than July 2025 confirms the use of QNT in customer contracts.
- Source and rate of QNT staking rewards; allocation and release schedule of QNT held by the company and the team: not read.
- Current holder of the key of address 0xF5E3…64C4: established only by an explorer label; no renunciation found.
- RPC readings (eth_call, ethereum-rpc.publicnode.com, October 7, 2026): not citable as pages; owner's transaction history read on the Blockscout API (not cited).
- Audit of the 2018 contract: none found, its absence is not established.
- Financial statements of Quant Network Ltd, role of Quant Network AG (Switzerland), share of revenue from interest-bearing banks, MiCA-licensed platforms in France: not read.
- Litigation: general web search, no court registry; no litigation or sanction concerning Quant or QNT found.
